Hi! I’m Matt.
Airline pilot and trainee therapist learning what men's mental health is really about.
I am an international airline pilot and a therapist-in-training. As an expat from New Zealand who has been flying the world for 20 years, hitting rock bottom made me realise I had been "flying blind" when it came to my own mental health. Curiosity led me on a journey to discover my true self and what it actually means to be a modern man.
Through my Master’s studies in psychology and counseling, I’ve identified a dangerous societal blind spot in how men are treated. Today, masculinity is labeled as either toxic or broken. We are caught in the turbulence between the anger of red-pill rage and the clinical coddling of an over-feminised psychology.
Men are not broken. However, several generational shifts have caused us to drift away from the historical roles and role models that once gave us purpose. I believe healthy masculinity is our natural state, and it is our responsibility to reclaim it, adapt it, and embrace it.
I’m far from fixed, solved, or cured, but I am finding calm by reclaiming my strength and exploring what it means to be a provider and protector. Join me as I navigate the confronting world of psychology, healing, and masculinity.
Men, we can be better!
